With expert craftsmanship and attention to his client’s needs, Scott E Fischer Contracting recently polished off the major revitalization of a 60 year old Prairie Village home.
Working with designer Lauren Wendlandt of Framework Design, Fischer was able to completely update the 1950 Don Drummond-built “flatie” ranch in the neighborhood near 75th Street and Nall Avenue.
“The owner wanted interior updates that captured the modern essence of the layout,” Fischer said. “We used new materials and techniques to give the interior a fresh look that kept with the character of the original home.”
Fischer managed a reworking of the foyer, kitchen and living room areas, creating open spaces that flow into each other. Using an epoxy finish over existing concrete, he created a durable, attractive floor that carries throughout the new space. A fabricated stone made from crushed seashells forms part of the beautiful new countertops in the revamped kitchen, which also feature polished walnut.
Owner Justin Reed says he couldn’t be happier with the results.
“The rehab really captured what I envisioned the house could be – working with both Lauren and Scott helped get the idea to reality,” he said. “Scott did an awesome job on the rehab, kept the site clean and straightened up nightly. He informed me along the way as the job progressed. Funny thing – the kids were disappointed when we got home and Scott wasn’t there.”
