CFD2 trains school officials on spinal injury response. Approximately 50 Shawnee Mission school officials and athletic trainers gathered at SM East Thursday for a demonstration of the new protocol fire fighters will be using in response to spinal injuries. As part of the new protocol, medical responders will remove jerseys, helmets and pads prior to the transport of an injured player. The protocol changes were approved by County Medical Director Ryan Jacobson, MD.
French Market to begin offering fresh crepes Saturdays. A popular food offering at the annual Prairie Village Art Fair will now be available year round. French Market announced this week that it will begin offering the same fresh crepes that the Quillec family makes outside Café Provence during the art show. Owner Patrick Quillec’s sister Nadine and her daughter Melanie as well as Quillec’s daughter Sophie will be taking turns behind the crepe pan each Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. starting Sept. 6. Fairway celebrates pulling the plug. It is the final swimming session for the Fairway pool as it now stands on Monday. The Pull the Plug Party will be held at the pool from 4 to 7 p.m. You can compete in the biggest splash, fastest swimmer and belly flop contests. Food discounts will be avail available and a DJ will be on hand. Regular admission rates apply for non-members.
No holiday for Fairway trash collection. Town & Country Disposal operates on all holidays, so trash collection will continue on Monday in Fairway and parts of Roeland Park as usual.
