No injuries in car accident on Mission Road bridge in Fairway. A single car accident Wednesday afternoon in Fairway caused damage to the bridge just south of Shawnee Mission Parkway, but didn’t injure the elderly woman driving the car. Fairway Police Chief Mike Fleming said the woman was heading north on Mission when she hit the concrete railing on the bridge. The car struck a concrete pillar, leaving it precariously perched above the creek. Fleming said the woman suffered only minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
Chamber announces gala dates. The Northeast Johnson County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual gala on Nov. 22 at the Overland Park Marriott. The evening will feature a silent and live auction, dinner and dancing. The 2014 Business Award winners will be honored at the event. NEJC Chamber members can nominate fellow members for the awards through Aug. 31 on the Chamber website. The attire for the evening is black-tie optional.
Bishop Miege graduate gets scholarship. Bishop Miege graduate Bradley Ivey has received the Midwest Achievement Awar.d to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2014-15 academic year. Ivey is the son of Jeff and Jacque Ivey of Prairie Village.
Potluck at Neighbor’s Place this month. The Neighbor’s Place, within the Roeland Park Community Center will hold a potluck dinner Aug. 26. The event will begin at 5 p.m. and last for two hours.
