Jose Leon is the new Roeland Park Director of Public Works. Leon started in Roeland Park last week, coming from the Overland Park Public Works Department.
Leon and his family have lived in Roeland Park since 2009. He grew up in 46th and Mission Road neighborhood, just across the county line in KCK. In Overland Park, Leon was the senior engineering technician for the last seven years and prior to that was a structural engineer technician in the private sector for eight years. “I am passionate about public service,” Leon said. “I always tell people I graduated from the City of Overland Park Leadership School. It’s not really a school, just a great organization with well established leaders.” Leon is currently enrolled in the KU public administration bachelor’s program and has a civil engineering technology degree from Johnson County Community College. Leon and his wife have two teenage sons.
