Eilert has largest warchest in County Chair race. Incumbent County Chair Ed Eilert outraised challengers Ed Peterson and Patricia Lightner during the fundraising period from January through July. Eilert raised $30,950 during that reporting period, with Peterson raising around $17,000. Roeland Park, Mission to explore joint development. After hearing a proposal from Mission city officials Monday night, the Roeland Park City Council expressed interest in working out a joint agreement between the two cities to develop the northeast corner of Johnson Drive and Roe Avenue. Portions of the land are owned by each city with a small section in Fairway. The green space was formerly part of the cloverleaf for Shawnee Mission Parkway and some of the space is still in the KDOT right-of-way.
Rose predicts winners in today’s primary. Kansas City Star columnist Steve Rose looked into his crystal ball last week and predicted the outcomes of several races in today’s primaries. He thinks Prairie Village Mayor Ron Shaffer will have a strong showing in the county commission race, as will Reps. Barbara Bollier and and Stephanie Clayton in their races.
