Mission’s Johnson Drive will be getting a new bar and restaurant expected to open this fall. Plans have been submitted to the city for a renovation of the Underhood Automotive building on the southwest corner of Johnson and Beverly.
The buyers are planning to release more details about the restaurant and the plans for the building in 30 days, according Eric Gonsher of the R.H. Johnson Company. It is believed to be a neighborhood restaurant and bar concept.
The draft site plan will not need to go before the planning commission because it involves only minor renovations to the building, according to city planning staff. The project includes removal of the pump station canopy, the addition of an outdoor ground level patio, replacement of one set of overhead doors with storefront windows, the addition of street trees and rehab of the existing parking lot. Interior remodeling also will be completed.
The filing is the most recent in a series of developments planned for Johnson Drive, including a new Starbucks in the old Taco Bell building and the planned development of the Cornerstone Commons project at Johnson and Barkley.
