County Commissioners learn life saving skills. Members of the Johnson County Board of County Commissioners last week got hands-on training from MED-ACT staff on how to administer CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator. The training was part of Johnson County HeartSafe, an initiative designed to improve survival rates after heart attack. HeartSafe is hoping to train more than 25,000 Johnson County resident in hands-only CPR by June 1, 2015.
Shawnee Mission Superintendent named vice chair of Efficiency Commission. Shawnee Mission Superintendent Jim Hinson has been named vice chair of the newly formed K-12 Student Performance and Efficiency Commission. Dave Trabert of the Kansas Policy Institute nominated Hinson after the panel had selected Wichita businessman Sam Williams as its chair. Trabert said “it was important for the panel and for public perception to have an educator in a leadership role,” according to a report from the Topeka Capital Journal.
