CNN anchor Jake Tapper posted a tweet Wednesday showing a Little Free Library his kids built with their grandfather “in solidarity w the little boy in Kansas whose city council told him to take his down.” Spencer Collins is expected to appear before the Leawood City Council next Monday, July 7, to make his case for getting the city to approve Little Free Libraries in the city.

Community Fireworks Display slated for tonight. The Community Fireworks Display put on by the cities of Westwood, Fairway, Mission Woods, Roeland Park and Westwood Hills is set for tonight at 9:30 p.m. on the St. Agnes Athletic Field, 5130 Mission Road. Parking will be limited, so organizers as attendees to walk if possible.
Fairway reminds residents that fireworks are prohibited in city. Fairway Police Chief Mike Fleming sent a message to residents yesterday reminding them that fireworks are not legal in the city. “The weather has not been as hot and dry as in previous years; however that does not help to ease any concerns the Police and Fire Departments have with preventing accidents and fires over the next few days,” he wrote.
