Spencer Collins and his family have quickly rallied national support in their push to place a Little Free Library in their front yard without incurring a fine from the city of Leawood. In just a few days, the family’s Facebook page has ballooned to 27,000 followers.
And now it’s getting some literary celebrity help as well.
Lemony Snicket author Daniel Handler told the San Francisco Chronicle this week that he would be sending Spencer copies of books from his new series, “All the Wrong Questions,” in which the hero is a librarian.
Handler told the paper that he “would simply ask [Leawood city officials] if shutting down a free library strikes them as a good way to serve the community.”
Handler also said he would like Spencer’s recommendations on good books to read next.
