Shaffer takes role as Senior Vice President of National Association of Regional Councils. Prairie Village Mayor Ron Shaffer was recently elected the Senior Vice President of the National Association of Regional Councils. Shaffer spent three terms on the board of directors of NARC, an organization that represents more than 250 regional council and metropolitan planning councils, including the Mid-American Regional Council. Shaffer has served as a member of the MARC board of directors since 2001, including two terms as MARC board chair.
Prairie Village Parks and Recreation Committee seeking new members. The Prairie Village Parks and Recreation Committee is looking for representatives from the city’s Wards 4, 5 and 6. Prairie Village budget hearing set for August 4. The Prairie Village city council has been digging into the details of its 2015 budget for the better part of the past two months, and has set a public hearing date on the issue for its meeting Monday, August 4. The public hearing, during which residents are encouraged to come share their thoughts on the proposed budget for the year, will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Roeland Park budget forum tonight. Roeland Park will hold its quarterly community forum beginning at 6 p.m. tonight at the Roeland Park Community Center. Tonight’s forum will focus on a presentation of the plans for the 2015 city budget, answering questions and getting citizen feedback about the budget priorities.
Roeland Park City Clerk leaving. Debra Mootz, Roeland Park’s City Clerk and Director of Finance, has announced that she will be leaving for a new job in the private sector as a director of operations. Mootz has worked with the city for 17 years.
75th Street closed today. WaterOne will be doing work on 75th Street east of Mission Road today and tomorrow. Expect 75th Street to be closed at Chadwick and Aberdeen.
