Roeland Park gathered for its first all-city Block Party Saturday in R Park. Among the bands and kids activities the fundraising continued to bring a walking trail to the park as a first step in improvements to the park. Volunteers said they have already reached their second goal of $7,500 before the city’s birthday next month.
The future path of the walking trail was mowed into the park grass so residents could get an idea of the route. The original goal was to raise $6,300 by the 63rd birthday of Roeland Park on July 2. When that goal was passed, the level was moved to $7,500. The fundraising now includes an R Park coffee from Roasterie and R Park T-shirts that were available at the group’s table Saturday.
