PVPost.com launched June 15, 2010 to very little fanfare. That first month, we never got more than 70 visits a day. And it was fully nine months before we broke the modest barrier of 1,000 visits in a single day.
But as we celebrated our fourth anniversary Sunday, it was fun to take a look at our current traffic levels to see just how far we’ve come. There’s little doubt that PVPost.com has become the go-to news source for northeast Johnson County — and this past year we’ve seen explosive growth across every traffic category.
Let’s take a look at the numbers.
- A big year for growth. Since the site launched, we’ve done 1,833,993 visits from 618,846 unique visitors viewing 2,950,452 pages. The really interesting thing is that almost half of all that traffic has come in the past 12 months. Since July 2013, we’ve done 891,187 visits from 340,799 unique visitors viewing 1,430,310 pages — and traffic levels are heading up in every category.
- More people turning to PVPost.com. We currently average approximately 40,000 unique visitors per month (for a coverage area that has about 50,000 people in it). In the second quarter of 2013, we were averaging just 15,000 unique visitors per month. So in a year we’ve almost tripled the number of unique visitors who come to the site.
- Loyal – and very loyal — readers. Fully 40 percent of our visitors come to the site at least 15 times per month. Twenty percent of our visitors come to the site 100 times or more per month. And almost 13 percent of our visitors come to the site 200 times or more per month!
- More coverage of northeast Johnson County than anyone else. Since the site launched, we’ve published 4,560 stories about northeast Johnson County. In 2011, we averaged around 75 posts per month. We now publish more than twice that much.
A big thank you to all our readers — especially the ones who send us story ideas. And another big, big thank you to our sponsors, whose desire to connect with our audience makes it possible for us to bring you the most robust coverage of northeast Johnson County out there.
