A three-judge panel on Wednesday ruled that the new school funding law passed by the Kansas legislature this session meets the Supreme Court mandate to increase funding for poor public schools. Debate over the merits of Roeland Park’s proposed anti-discrimination ordinance have attracted media attention in recent days from outlets across the metro. Earlier this week, KSHB covered the appearance of the anonymous flier that showed up on some homeowners doorsteps spelling out reasons to oppose the ordinance. (See our story here). Prairie Village Police Department hiring. The Prairie Village Police Department announced yesterday that they are hiring for a new police officer. Details posted to their Facebook page are as follows: SALARY: $19.63 – $30.68 per hour DOQ. Entry-level officers may receive up to a five percent incentive for education and an additional five percent incentive for prior law enforcement experience. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 21 years of age; valid driver’s license; high school graduate, or equivalent; good moral character; no DUI within the past five years; has not been convicted, does not have an expunged conviction and has not been placed on diversion by any state or federal government for a crime that is a felony or its equivalent under the Uniform Code of Military Justice; citizen of the United States. Palmer Square Capital Management LLC announced this week that it had closed on its third collateralized loan obligation, a product aimed at insurance companies and large banks.
