This week’s wet weather appears to have exacerbated an erosion problem along the banks of Brush Creek in Mission Hills, causing a barrier fence there to collapse.
Mission Hills Assistant City Administrator Jennifer Lee said the city was already aware of issues with that stretch of the bank before the fence failure occurred. The city had done some bank stabilization as part of the 2013 construction project along Indian Lane, but the plants put in place to help keep the bank from eroding failed to thrive.
After Tuesday’s substantial rains, part of the Indian Lane fence toppled over.
“The City had already contracted with an engineer to design a solution when the failure occurred early this morning,” Lee wrote us Wednesday. “We anticipate moving forward with implementing the solution/repair in early July.”
