Yesterday’s shooting at Reynolds High School in Troutdale, Ore., marked the 74th shooting at a U.S. school since the December 2012 incident in Newtown, Conn., and the 36th school shooting since the start of 2014.
Though statistically speaking school shootings remain very rare across the country, they are traumatic events that leave deep scars in the communities where they occur.
