Road work on 67th Street to begin today. Construction crews anticipated beginning a mill and overlay on 67th Street between Roe Avenue and Nall Avenue in Prairie Village today. The work is expected to last four days, and the street will be closed to through traffic while the work is under way. There will, however, be access for residents.
Bishop Miege grad makes college Academic All-American lax list. Bishop Miege graduate Madison Merrill, who just completed her sophomore year at the University of Colorado, has been named to the Academic All American List for the Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association. Merrill is a starting midfielder for the Buffalos. She is majoring in integrated physiology. Merrill’s brother Mackey, a Miege senior this season, played for the SM East lacrosse team and is attending Georgetown on a lacrosse scholarship.
Summer Lunch Bunch starts today. Free hot lunches will be available to all children ages one to 18 at several Shawnee Mission schools this summer. The lunches will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each Monday through Friday (no lunch July 4) until July 25. The program is entirely funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Santa Fe Trail and Hocker Grove Middle School are among the schools where free lunches, prepared by the Shawnee Mission food services department, will be available.
