Roeland Park police this morning arrested a man along County Line Road just moments after a woman called them to report that a stranger had walked into her house where she was present with her three small children.
Roeland Park police chief said they believe the man was fleeing police in Kansas City, Kan., related to criminal activity there, and entered the family’s home in the 4700 block of Reinhardt through the back door.
“She started screaming and ran with the kids across the street and called the police,” he said. “She did a great job giving a description. She was really calm.”
Police happened to be in the area and were able to make visual contact with a man fitting the woman’s description within a minute or so of her call. The man is in jail, and police are investigating a vehicle they believe he used. The vehicle had firearms in it, Morris said.
