Residents in the neighborhood surrounding 76th Street and Mohawk Drive in Prairie Village woke up to the sight of more than a dozen law enforcement officers executing a narcotics search warrant.
Witnesses said officers in bulletproof vests carrying semi-automatic weapons surrounded the house before 8:30 a.m. A male who was in the home was taken into custody.
Leawood Police Sgt. Nick Rothwell confirmed that his department obtained and executed the narcotics search warrant. Rothwell said that an arrest was made in the raid, but that he couldn’t release additional details because the case was still being investigated.
Curry Allen Payne, aged 20, who resides at a home on 76th Street was booked into Johnson County Jail Tuesday just after noon on first degree narcotics charges.
Neighbors reported that a K-9 unit was on the scene as well. Prairie Village Police confirmed that their Critical Incident Response Team had assisted in the operation.
