SM East’s lacrosse team opened its bid to three-peat at Lacrosse Association of Kansas City champions with a playoff win on its home turf over Blue Valley North Saturday.
The Lancers emerged from the battle 12-5, advancing to play rival Pembroke Hill this Wednesday in the semi-finals. SM East beat Pembroke 15-7 in their regular season meeting in mid-April, and the Lancers defeated Pembroke in the LAKS title game in 2012 and 2013.
Rockhurst, which beat Northland in its opening playoff game Sunday, will face Blue Valley West in the semi-finals Wednesday.
SM East entered the playoffs in second place in the Lacrosse Association of Kansas City rankings, but fourth in the coaches poll behind Rockhurst, Pembroke Hill and Blue Valley West.
