A Little Free Library in Roeland Park which used to have a nice spot to relax while readers browsed the selection is now without its bench. And it would like to have it back.
Roeland Park Police Chief John Morris said the department is investigating the disappearance of the reading bench that was removed from the LFL in the 3600 block of 48th Street over the weekend. It is not known if someone thought the bench was placed out front for “curbside free stuff” or if the disappearance is the result of an actual theft. This weekend was the city-wide garage sale in Roeland Park.
The bench was a donation from a family in the area and its return would be appreciated . No charges will be filed if it was taken by mistake, Morris said. Contact Roeland Park police with any information on the bench.
UPDATED 6:07 Monday: The bench is back. Someone mistook it for trash during Roeland Park’s pickup this weekend, but it has been returned.
