Prairie Village resident, KC Symphony musician charged with child pornography. KCTV 5 reported Tuesday that Gary Alan Schutza of Prairie Village has been accused of possession of child pornography, and faces charges of sexual exploitation of a child. Schutza, who is the lead trumpet player for the Kansas City Symphony, was living in a rental home in Prairie Village when police arrested him Tuesday. SM East lax edges Blue Valley West in overtime. SM East’s varsity lacrosse team eked out a win over Blue Valley West Tuesday. The Lancers scored the winning goal in overtime to take the 10-9 victory. SM East will finish its regular season tonight against Lee’s Summit West before playoff action begins Saturday.
Roeland Park annual report released. The City of Roeland Park has completed its annual report for 2013, detailing accomplishments, major events and council actions month by month. It can be reviewed here.
Grease is the word at Indian Hills. Indian Hills’ production of Grease hits the stage Thursday for a three-night run. The performances start a 7 p.m. May 1-3. Tickets are $5 at the door. The show is directed by Indian Hills performance teacher Cheryl Hodges-Thrutchley.
Two Lancer Dancers make college teams. Two friends who are members of SM East’s lauded dance team learned in recent days that they will be able to take their trade to the college level. Mary Kate Workman has made the dance team at the University of Mississippi, and Taylor McCollough has made the dance team at Baylor University. Workman and McCollough have been dancing together on the Lancer Dancers since they were freshman.
