The Exploration of Color Exhibit will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. and feature the works of Kansas City artists Joy Baker and Ryan Wilks. A silent auction will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. with all of the proceeds benefitting the Roeland Park City Hall Arts Commission. The two featured artists also will donate a portion of commissions on any art sales.
Food, drinks and music also will be part of the arts evening which is open to all ages with no cover charge. Pianist Michelle Cox will provide the music for the evening.
Jen Harris of Createful Studios said the arts commission hosts art appreciation events and pays for or commissions public art pieces. The commission now relies on private donations and the fundraising events for funds. Roeland Park has been a leader in public art among area communities, she said.
Ryan Wilks does portraits in extreme colors and Joy Baker is premiering her work in mandalas at the event.
