A three-alarm fire Saturday morning destroyed parts of the Hillsborough Apartments complex at 5315 Foxridge Dr. in Mission.
Fire crews arrived on the scene around 11 a.m. Saturday, where the blaze had engulfed the first and second stories of buildings encompassing around 10 units. The Hillsborough complex has more than two dozen buildings spread over several acres, and features one and two-bedroom layouts. Fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze.
This isn’t the first time in recent history that fires have struck at northeast Johnson County apartment buildings. The Wellington Club Apartments two miles south of Hillsborough caught fire in February 2013, and the 56 Metcalf Apartments, just across Metcalf and a bit south of the Hillsborough complex, experienced a major fire in December 2013.
