For the second year in a row, Prairie Village is using an online budget simulator to collect resident input on desired service and spending levels. See the release from the city below:
The Budget Simulator allows users to choose the level of service they desire for each service area listed. The service areas are divided into six program areas: Infrastructure, General Government, Public Safety, Community Development, Parks & Pool and Green Initiatives. The Budget Simulator focuses on significant budget items and is not a comprehensive review of the entire budget. The City will use the data from the Budget Simulator during the 2015 Budget discussions with the City Council.
The Budget Simulator allows you to see the impact your changes make to the property tax bill for the average Prairie Village home, or you can enter your address and see the changes to your own property tax bill as you make changes to each level of service.
“We want Prairie Village residents to be engaged in the budget process,” said Lisa Santa Maria, Finance Director. “Providing the budget simulator online allows residents to communicate their City service priorities in a convenient manner, which in turn helps the City in the decision-making process.”
