Northeast Johnson County showed very well in the pool this weekend.
Bishop Miege’s swim and dive team took its first-ever 5-1A title Saturday. Wichita Heights finished second overall with 242 points to the Stags’ 261.
The Miege swimmers started the weekend off on a tear, with eight swimmers breaking school records during the preliminary heats on Friday. On Saturday, Stags’ senior Jack Wirtz won individual titles in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle. He was also part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team that took first place.
The victory marks the first swim team title for Stags’ coach Dennis Mueller.
