What with it being the dead of winter and all, I thought it might be nice to throw a li’l reminder out there that spring isn’t that far away.
Believe it or not, there are people out there thinking long and hard about batted ball sports (they being baseball and softball). And three SM East students have made their way onto an exclusive pre-season list.
Hovpen Sports, which coverage Kansas high school athletes, named senior softball player Erin McGinley one of the top ten outfielders in the state, while senior Rowan Turner was listed as one of the top five closers.
On the baseball side, catcher Gunner Troutwine made the pre-season All-State team.
Troutwine has committed to playing at Wichita State and McGinley has committed to KU, where she will see a familiar face in the dugout next year. McGinley’s sister Shannon, who graduated in 2012, has announced she will transfer from Virginia to KU this season.
