Stephanie Greer, who attended Prairie, Indian Hills and SM East before enrolling at KU in 2007, is working toward a degree in cell biology and hopes to attend medical school one day. As a way to gain further insight into the medical world, she will join seven fellow Lawrence campus students and four Medical Center students on the trip to the southeast African nation. The group will be led by a professor of anatomy and a KU Medical Center physician, and is aiming to see upwards of 300 patients per day at the Pothwira Orphanage and Clinic.
“I am so incredibly lucky to be a part of such a wonderful experience traveling to Africa to help so many,” Greer said.
The trip is part of the Interprofessional Global Health Initiative. The group will be in Malawi through Jan. 14.
