Former Chiefs center Tim Grunhard, who resigned in November after two years as the offensive line coach for the University of Kansas, has announced he will return to a coaching role at Bishop Miege High School.
“I am thrilled to be returning to Miege as an assistant to Head Coach Jon Holmes, spend more time with my family and serve the Miege community,” Grunhard said in a statement. “It is truly exciting for my family and friends for me to remain close to home.”
Grunhard was the Stags’ head coach before accepting Charlie Weis’s offer for a job with the Jayhawks. Under his leadership, the Stags won the KSHSAA 4A state title in 2009.
“We feel fortunate that Tim has chosen to return to Bishop Miege,” said athletic director Mike Hubka. “His return brings added expertise, experience and most importantly a faith-filled mentor to our students.”
The Stags finished the 2013 season 9-2 and were Eastern Kansas League co-champions.
