The Tutera Group’s controversial Mission Chateau senior living development proposal comes before the Prairie Village planning commission once again tonight — and city staff are optimistic that the commission will actually vote on the proposal this time.
Consideration of Tutera’s second Mission Chateau proposal was halted at the Planning Commission’s November meeting after the city’s attorney suggested that the required notifications of the meeting might not have followed the letter of the law.
But with the proper notifications having been executed, the commission should be free to hold a vote on the proposal. Tutera’s first proposal for Mission Chateau passed the Planning Commission by a vote of 5 to 1 in August before moving before the City Council in September — where it failed to gain the supermajority necessary for final approval.
Should the Planning Commission approve Mission Chateau’s new plans, the proposal would likely go before the City Council in January.
Tonight’s Planning Commission meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the SM East cafeteria.
