A high school marching band and a perfect October afternoon – does it get better? Yes, if you have 13 marching bands and they are playing in northeast Johnson County.
The SM North Marching Invitational treated anyone within earshot of the stadium to eight hours of high school marching band music Saturday afternoon and evening. Blue Valley West captured the overall title in the competition (the host school performs an exhibition, but does not compete) and Blue Valley placed second. SM East was in the competition with bands from as far away as Tulsa.
SM North band director Chad Reed organized the festival.
