Storm response costs topped $65,000 for PV Public Works
The last vestiges of the brutal snowstorms that dragged normal activity in Johnson County to a halt last month are slowly fading away — but chances are city administrators in the area won’t be forgetting the impact they had on city coffers anytime soon.
Prairie Village Public Works has tallied up the totals from both storms, and found that the combined costs for staff, materials and equipment to clear the streets was more than $65,000.
Acting Public Works Director Keith Bredehoeft said the first round of storm response efforts cost $25,566. The second round of efforts cost $39,620. To put that in some perspective, consider that snow removal costs for the entire 2011-2012 winter season were just $28,000.
Welcome, spring!
