Reminder: SMSD Candidate Forum is this Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

If you think schools are important to northeast Johnson County, then you will want to turn out Saturday for the PVPost.com forum featuring the two candidates for Shawnee Mission School Board at-large seat.

Cindy Neighbor and Mark Read are competing in the only contested race in the Shawnee Mission district elections this year. The forum will be held Saturday in the Prairie Village City Council Chambers beginning at 10:30 a.m. The doors will open at 10 a.m. for coffee. The forum is co-sponsored by the PTAs at SM East and Indian Hills.

The forum will last one hour and begin with questions sent in by PVPost.com readers and PTA members. There is still time to send in your question — send us an email at stories@pvpost.com. Questions can also be submitted from the floor on the day of forum.

The at-large seat is elected by voters from all across the school district on April 2. The other two seats up for election this year, including the SM East area seat held by Donna Bysfield, are not contested with incumbents running again. Neighbor is the incumbent for the at-large seat.
