MainStream to host forum on public education financing Thursday
Public Education: What’s at Stake? is the latest in the series of MainStream Coalition’s legislative forums. It will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Colonial Church, 7039 Mission Road.
Among the topics Thursday will be the recent school funding lawsuit that resulted in a decision by the courts that the state has not funded Kansas public schools sufficiently, the proposed amendment to the Kansas Constitution that would alter the language requiring “suitable” school funding, the debate over whether money is appropriately funneled to classrooms and other recent legislation that affects education in Kansas.
The format for the meeting includes a panel discussion that features Dr. Tom Trigg, superintendent of the Blue Valley School District, and Dave Traebert, president of the Kansas Policy Institute.
The event is open to the public.
