Game on! Lancers, Raiders tip off with Sunflower title on the line

This year’s seniors will have plenty to play for against SM South in a regular-season ending Senior Night game.

The numbers couldn’t match up more evenly for the SM East and SM South basketball teams.

They’ve squared off a total 104 times. Each team has 52 wins.

They’ve played all but one game in their Sunflower League schedule this season. Each team is 10-0 in league play.

But after tonight, the stalemate will be broken.

Despite the fact that school was canceled today, the regular-season ending Senior Night matchup between the Lancers and Raiders will be played as scheduled. And since the Kansas State High School Activities Association bumped SM South to a 5A classification this year, the Lancers and Raiders have no chance of meeting in state tournament play. So bragging rights for the rivalry as well as a Sunflower League title are up for grabs tonight.

With so much to play for, head coach Shawn Hair anticipates it will be a packed house in spite of the conditions.

“Get there early,” he texted us yesterday. “Big crowd expected.”

GO LANCERS!
