SM East grad Aguiar runs third-fastest 60-meter dash in Dartmouth history

SM East grads making their college athletic debuts as freshman have had a good few weeks.

Earlier this month, 2012 graduate and current Dartmouth College sprinter Toni Aguiar broke her own personal record in the 60-meter dash with a preliminary heat time of 7.97 seconds. Her previous best was 8.11.

“After my race I stopped and looked at the score board and saw a .97 and though, ‘Oh no, an 8.97?’ I thought I had run so much faster than that but then I saw that it was actually a 7.97, which was a big relief,” she told TheDartmouth.com.

But Aguiar wasn’t done. In the final heat, she ran the race in 7.91 — the third fast time in Dartmouth history.

The Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal Championships begin Saturday in Cambridge, Mass.
