As storm approaches, plow crews preparing for 24-hours of road clearing
With the biggest snowstorm in two years bearing down on the Kansas City area, northeast Johnson County snow removal crews are preparing for as much as 24 hours of straight snowfall.
Acting Prairie Village Public Works Director Keith Bredehoeft said the first plow crews will arrive at 7 p.m. Wednesday, and the department will run two 12-hour shifts with eight plow trucks dropping salt and clearing streets.
As of Tuesday night, Bredehoeft said he was somewhat heartened by the latest forecasts, which were calling for more snow and less sleet and freezing rain than earlier predictions.
“Snow is easier to deal with,” Bredehoeft said. “We’ll take snow over ice.”
