Tutera to unveil tweaked Mission Valley proposal designs Thursday
Nearly a month after it last presented plans for the redevelopment of Mission Valley Middle School to neighborhood homeowners, the site’s owners are prepared to unveil a tweaked design intended to address some of the more common concerns expressed by the public.
The Tutera Group will be holding a city-wide meeting to present its revised plans from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday in the SM East cafeteria.
To date the city has not received revised drawings for the site, on which Tutera has proposed the construction of an extensive senior living community.
During a set of public meetings on the proposals in January, neighbors voiced apprehensions about the proximity of large parking lots to residential property as well as the potential for flooding. Neighborhood support for the proposal is key in the wake of the Prairie Village City Council’s passage of an ordinance in January granting residents the power to protest development project requiring Special Use Permits.
