Hazmat, bomb squad, fire crews at SM East responding to chemical reaction in science room

Hazardous materials crews, the Overland Park bomb squad and firefighters responded to a call at SM East Monday afternoon, but details about what prompted the emergency response are few.

SM East students were let out of school at the normal 2:40 dismissal time — no school evacuation took place.
