In response to feedback provided during three community meeting the past two weeks, the owner of Mission Valley Middle School has announced it will postpone submission of an application to build an extensive senior living community on the site until it has had time to consider potential changes to assuage the concerns of neighbors.
Initially, the Tutera Group had intended to submit its building plans to Prairie Village Feb. 1, and was prepared to have a work session with the city’s Planning Commission Feb. 5. That work session has been canceled for the time being, and the developer has announced plans to host at least one more community meeting before submitting a formal application to the city.
In anticipation of the large crowds that have shown up anytime discussion of an issue related to a Mission Valley site is on a city meeting agenda, the Feb. 5 planning commission meeting had been scheduled at Indian Hills MIddle School. Since the work session has been canceled, the planning commission meet has been moved back to its normal location at City Hall.
