Wiley, Boeshaar will seek re-election as Fairway, Mission Hills mayors
The deadline to file for spring elections is noon Tuesday and among the candidates who have declared their intent to run is Fairway Mayor Jerry Wiley, who is seeking a second term in office.
Wiley defeated John St. Clair four years ago in a highly contended election. As of now, Wiley is unopposed for re-election.
Three of the four wards in Fairway also have candidates including incumbent Ky Weekly in the second, and newcomers David Watkins in the third and Tanya Keys in the fourth. No candidate has filed for office in the Fairway first ward as of yet.
In Roeland Park a contest for mayor has developed with Joel Marquardt filing to oppose incumbent Mayor Adrienne Foster. The fourth ward in Roeland Park has two council candidates, Teresa Kelly and Carol Losey. Sharon McNeil has filed in ward one, incumbent Robert Meyers, Jr. has filed in ward two and Mel Croston has filed in ward three.
In Mission Hills, incumbents are the only filers for office. Mayor Richard Boeshaar and councilors Roy Farchmin and Barbara Nelson.
In Fairway Mayor Wiley said his intention is to “Serve the citizens of Fairway as your Mayor for a second term and insure your Governing Body and staff works in concert to maintain Fairway as a residential community by continuing to manage a responsible and efficient municipal government that clearly demonstrates to the community fiscal responsibility as stewards of your tax dollars and conducts the business of Fairway in an open and transparent environment for all residents.”
