Lancers suffer first loss of season in tourney final at McPherson

The SM East’s boys basketball team’s magical string of victories to open the 2013 season came to an end Saturday as the Lancers fell to host McPherson High School in its statewide invitational tournament Saturday.

The Lancers, now 10-1, fell 40-53 to the Bullpups.

They’d beaten Wichita’s Maize High School 64-47 Thursday and Blue Valley West 48-36 Friday to make it to the title game. Senior Vance Wentz scored 19 points in the victory over BV West.
