Yoder says Obama’s gun safety proposals would ‘restrict 2nd Amendment rights’
Looks like you can count Rep. Kevin Yoder among the members of Congress likely to block much of President Barack Obama’s proposed gun safety proposals.
Asked by PVPost.com what he thought of the president’s plan, Yoder sent this statement:
“In the wake of the Sandy Hook shootings, we are all looking for answers to the prevalence of criminal violence in our nation. I look forward to a serious and thoughtful debate on the President’s proposals. Unfortunately, many of the President’s ideas focus more on restricting the 2nd Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans, rather than curbing illegal gun violence. I believe these measures will create a false sense of security, and do little to solve the underlying causes of these violent acts”
His office has not responded to a question asking specifically if he would vote against bans on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines.
