Prairie Village to hold lottery for rights to 2013 community garden plots
The Prairie Village community garden project’s inaugural season was a big success — so big, in fact, that only a very few of the 28 plots at Harmon Park and Cherokee Christian Church will be available for new rentals this year.
To have a shot at renting one of the available 4′ by 20′ plots, Prairie Village residents must attend one of three informational meetings this month. They will be held:
- 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19 in the City Hall Multi-Purpose Room
- 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21 at the Prairie Village Community Center
- 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26 in the City Hall Multi-Purpose Room
It will cost $40 to rent a plot for the 2013 growing season. The city will hold a lottery drawing in February to award rental rights for the open plots this year. To be eligible for the lottery, residents must attend one of the informational sessions and sign and return an Agreement, Waiver and the plot fee.
