Westwood commission approves Woodside project, council to have final vote
A new development across the street from Westwood City Hall will add significant housing stock to the city. The project stretches along Rainbow Boulevard between 47th Place and 46th Avenue. It includes multiple housing units in a multi-story setting as well as retail space on the bottom floor.
That project and a related expansion of the Woodside Tennis Club, which lies to the east of the Rainbow development, both received their final site plan approvals from the Westwood Planning Commission Monday and are ready for council approval.
The residential building along Rainbow will contain one, two and three-bedroom units with a grocery on the bottom floor at the northwest corner of the building. The project, called Woodside Village North, is more than 165,000 square feet and is planned to have 91 residential units. A GreenAcres Market grocery is planned for the lower level and attorneys for the owner said there is space for two more retailers, one potentially a coffee shop. There will be space for outdoor seating at the retail level.
The project is owned by Tanner and White properties, who also have the Woodside Tennis Club which is being expanded. The tennis club plans include a remodel of the existing clubhouse building plus a new building that will extend to the west as well as a new indoor tennis building. The addition will include a fitness center, indoor pool, spa and gift shop, according to the presentation on Monday.
