Prairie Village tanning salon makes shift to other beauty services

A south Prairie Village beauty mainstay for more than 15 years recently gotten a major makeover.

The Sunseekers Tanning Salon at 89th Street and Roe Avenue has been rebranded as The Body Bar, and now offers a full range of beauty salon services.

Owner Vicki Flowers said the move came in response to changing demands in the market.

“People just don’t go tanning as much as they used to,” Flowers said. “We wanted to change to offer people more of the things they are wanting these days.”

The Body Bar still offers spray tanning, but its traditional tanning business has been transferred to Celsius Tannery at 89th Street and Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park, which will honor tanning sessions sold at Sunseekers.

The Body Bar also offers facials, nail services, a hair salon, massages, body wraps and infrared saunas.
