Prairie Village hosting annual tree recycling program at city parks

Prairie Village Christmas Tree Recycling

The tree recycling areas at Prairie Village parks are marked with these yellow signs.

It’s about time to start thinking about not having to think about Christmas anymore, right?

Well, if getting rid of that Christmas tree would help you put the holidays behind you, you’ve got a couple of options.

Prairie Village and Mission Hills residents can simply set their Christmas trees on the curb to be picked up as part of their normal trash days. Deffenbaugh will pick the trees up whole (no need to cut them up) and take them to be composted.

Prairie Village is also holding its annual Tree Recycling Program through Jan. 21. Drop off locations are at Franklin Park, Porter Park and Taliaferro (formerly Meadowlake) Park. Trees taken to the locations are shredded several times a week in a wood chipper. Residents are free to take the wood chips for their own use.
