Public works crews preparing for predicted snowfall
If the forecasts are right, northeast Johnson County’s unseasonably warm winter may turn seasonably cold and snowy starting tonight — and Prairie Village public works is getting ready.
Public Works director Bruce McNabb said truck crews are scheduled to arrive at 7 p.m. and will be prepared to hit the roads around 11 p.m. when a rain/snow mix is predicted to begin. The crews will also be working to ensure drainage on city streets is clear prior to the start of the snowfall.
“At least a couple of our trucks will be out checking road conditions periodically,” McNabb said. “We also get reports from the police officers on the street.”
The department has city streets broken down into eight routes, so eight trucks will be prepared to spread salt.
