Man with ‘stroke-like symptoms’ loses control of car, damages Prairie Ridge monument
An elderly couple trying to respond to a medical emergency lost control of their vehicle Sunday, running it into the Prairie Ridge subdivision monument at the southwest intersection of 75th Street and Roe Avenue.
Prairie Village Police Capt. Wes Lovett said the man driving the car was experiencing stroke-like symptoms when the car stopped on near the west side of the intersection heading eastward. The woman was trying to switch spots with the man in the driver’s seat, but the man hadn’t put the car in park when he took his foot off the break. The woman, who was out of the car when it started rolling, tried to get back in to stop it, but wasn’t able to before it ran into the monument.
“She was lucky not to be injured,” Lovett said.
