Kansas City Wrestling Club holding sign-ups at SM East Tuesday night
A great opportunity for aspiring grapplers awaits in the SM East wrestling room tonight.
The Kansas City Wrestling Club is holding sign-ups there from 6-8 p.m. for its 2012-13 season. Registration is open to first through eighth grade boys and girls.
Club sponsor Leslie Ridge sent us the following description of the club and its mission:
Club members at the 2012 Kansas Kids State Qualifiers. From left, Grant Hollingsworth, Michael Aldridge, Michael Bamford and Clarence Miller.
The Kansas City Wrestling Club is a youth wrestling club for 1st thru 8th graders that has become the primary feeder club for The SME Wrestling Team. Our former wrestlershave made SME a perennial power house in the state of Kansas. We work directly with the SME head wrestling coach; Chip Ufford in developing our wrestlers for his program.
ALL skill levels are encouraged to join. We separate the novice from the experienced wrestlers and match weight and age to give everyone a positive experience.
The Kansas City Wrestling Club is also a registered and sanctioned member of Kansas USA Wrestling which requires all of our coaches to pass background checks as well as complete and pass coaching certification classes. All of our coaches are volunteers and pay for these background checks, classes and registration out of their own pockets.
We believe our organization teaches our children about life and its challenges. Our goal is to help develop well-rounded young people who will learn the fundamentals and importance of responsibility, sportsmanship, academics and community pride. We are looking forward to another exciting and rewarding wrestling season.
