Lancers edge Blue Valley West 2-0, earn trip to state soccer quarterfinals
This remarkable SM East boys soccer season keeps kicking along.
With a 2-0 victory Thursday over Blue Valley West, the Lancers won the KSHSAA 6A Regional Tournament’s Northeast 3 division, earning a spot in the state quarterfinals against league rival Lawrence High School.
The Lancers and Jaguars were both scoreless at halftime, but SM East’s Bryce McClanahan broke the stalemate with a goal earlier in the second half. Clint Dunn found the back of the net forty minutes later for the final goal of the night.
With their fifteenth win of the season, the 2012 Lancers have now won more games than any SM East team since 1995, when the Lancers went 18-3-0 under then-coach Ermanno Ritschl.
The Lancers face Lawrence High School on Tuesday. SM East beat the Chesty Lions (12-5-1) 6-1 when the teams met earlier this season.
